MEET TASALA TAHIR

The youngest of three, Tasala learned the game of basketball from her older brothers who loved playing the sport growing up. Raptors games were the norm on the living room television for as long as she can remember and so the love for the game naturally grew inside her.

An actress at heart, Tasala’s first passion was performing. She participated in numerous acting programs and drama camps growing up, and later instructed City of Toronto performing arts programs. Her love of being on camera, storytelling, and basketball turned into an interest in broadcasting. She pursued journalism and sports reporting in school.

Today, Tasala is a sport industry professional. She has been involved in areas of basketball including PR and communications, journalism, community development, and team and basketball operations. She enjoys finding ways to use the game of basketball to unite people, strengthen bonds, and ultimately create communities of support, positivity, and appreciation.

Beyond her roles in sports, Tasala is passionate about helping others. She has worked in the community — specifically with children and youth — in sports & recreation and education. She believes in all of our roles in fostering young people’s creativity, ambition, and critical thinking.

“If you do the work, you work hard enough, dreams come true. Those times when you get up early and you work hard. Those times when you stay up late and you work hard. Those times when you don’t feel like working, you’re too tired, you don’t want to push yourself, but you do it anyway. That is actually the dream.”
